Professional:
Mr. Martin has been practicing primarily workers’ compensation defense, employment law and civil litigation since 1991. His article, Understanding the New Workers’ Compensation Legislation, was published in the September/October, 1996 edition of South Carolina Lawyer. Prior to forming Martin & Brasington, P.A, he was a partner with the firm of Clarkson, Walsh, Rheney & Turner.
Admissions:
He is admitted to practice in South Carolina, Georgia, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Professional Associations and Memberships:
He served as Chairman of the City of Greenville Civil Service Commission, (1998-2001). He is a member of the American Bar Association (Labor and Employment section), the South Carolina Bar (Workers' Compensation Section), the State Bar of Georgia, the Greenville County Bar, the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys Association (Workers’ Compensation Committee). He served on active duty in the U.S. Army as a Captain from 1991-1994.
Education:
Mr. Martin received his B.A. Degree from The Citadel in 1987, and his J.D. Degree from Mercer University in 1991.
